I believe we all have an innate capacity for growth and change. Although change is hard, doing it alone can be even harder.
Hello, I'm Jennifer Birner
I am committed to helping people on their path to peace and well-being and use a holistic approach to therapy that weaves together the many interrelated parts of the self (biological, emotional, cognitive, relational, cultural and spiritual). My therapeutic approach is trauma informed and combines elements of depth psychology (how our unconscious mental processes and motives effect our lives), cognitive-behavioral therapy (how automatic thoughts and beliefs may affect our behaviors and limit our choices), mindfulness (focusing on the present with acceptance), and positive psychology (enhancing strengths and building resilience) with a foundation in attachment theory and current neuroscience. This highly personalized approach is tailored to each client. By using an eclectic style, I can utilize evidence-based techniques while also working collaboratively with my clients in order to select which methods work best for them. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of California and Georgia. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles in 2013. I have a deep love for the field of psychology, and constantly work to expand my knowledge and expertise through professional training and workshops. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) and have been a past board member of the Long Beach South Bay Chapter of CAMFT (LBSB CAMFT).
Most important of all I feel honored and fulfilled to be a part of my client’s path, and witness their process and growth. I am so grateful to do the work that I love.
